Sorry I found the reading of this a bit boring and couldn't finish. I have listened to the author on several long Youtube interviews and I probably already know what I need to know. He's a wonderful person and it's really worth checking him out.
This is like the "Coles Notes" version of his series of books. It summarizes the "Grain Brain" book that discusses why you should eliminate gluten, carbohydrates and sugar from you diet. It also summarizes the "Brain Maker" book that takes his studies a step further investigating the link between the bacteria in your gut and brain function. It also throws in a 14 day recipe plan. If you don't have time to read the series then I would recommend reading this. I bought this again, after I read it, for my daughter who is at the stage in life where reading time is limited. I'm hoping she begins to implement some of his teachings based on her reading this book and the influence of the rest of the family adopting the recommended changes.
Apparently 5% of humans are gluten sensitive and most of these people go un-diagnosed. This book is going to be a game changer for those people. I would suggest you read this book once, then implement the diet that it suggests for the duration that is specified (30 days). If you feel no difference then you can always go back to your earlier diet. BUT if your life is turned UPSIDE DOWN like mine was then this book will be a game changer for you. I cannot recommend this book enough. I think every person should read his book.
I didn't really start the plan but Dr. Perlmutter has a good way of helping me.His book merits a good look at it.I bought almost all his books.If you want to go keto or low carb,Dr.Perlmutter is the best for me.Sylvia
Le sujet est très intéressant mais je trouve le contenu un peu trop léger. Il me semble présenté comme un livre d'aide à l'amincissement plus que comme un livre ayant une valeur scientifique même si des faits scientifiques sont énoncés. Bien sûr c'est sans doute un peu le but de l'ouvrage, à lire en complément avec le premier volume, mais c'est réalisé d'une manière trop superficielle voire commerciale pour moi. Beaucoup l'ont décrit comme étant un livre révolutionnaire mais je ne trouve, personnellement, aucune révolution là-dedans. Sans doute que ça peut ouvrir les yeux du néophyte mais si le sujet de l'alimentation (de manière générale) vous est familier, ce livre ne risque pas de vous apprendre quoi que ce soit
Despite what many people write and say, Dr.Perlmutter's work stands out like a beacon of hope in an oceam of lobby-coined studies helping us to achieve a better life and to stay healthy later in life. Thank you.
In general, it is a good book about a low-carb and high-fat diet including recommendations for social life, sleep etc.
Personally, i have deep respect for people who can follow all recommendations and the 14 days plan included at the end. Unfortunately, some of the things are not feasible for me. I would love to buy only organic food and green-field meat, but due to budget constraints as a student it is simply not possible.
Nevertheless, i really liked that the author explained the newest scientific research in this field.
