I found this book just as I'm starting as a team lead, and there is no better book to discover. I feel so much more educated about my new job, and I've found that: 1. All my feelings about performance feedback were correct, but people smarter than me told me why. 2. People are not "clay" that you should shape and mould; they each have their own strength, and your job is to help them harness those. 3. Checking in, face to face, is one of the easiest yet most powerful things I can do today. 4. It's fine if people don't follow me; all I need is that they believe I have their back.
