“All the Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr is an amazing story of love in a time of war and occupation, involving people who are not full in body and spirit but who find redemption in one another. I find the story of the Nazi era in German controlled France during the Second World War very fascinating because it provides a very good insight into the control of people, the zest of life even in adverse conditions and man’s ability to learn how to oppress while being oppressed. Doerr did a great job of weaving the pulse of life in that era through the characters and a brilliant plot that made this story a page turner that it is. I enjoy the theme a lot, which I also had the pleasure of exploring through “Disciples of Fortune”, another historical fiction I read a while ago.
