5.0 van 5 sterren ... stayed up past midnight when I should be sleeping like a responsible adult 18 oktober 2016

This only took me a day to read on the calendar because I have stayed up past midnight when I should be sleeping like a responsible adult. I don't even care because I've been waiting for what feels like ten decades for this finale and lord have mercy what a finale it was. It was so worth the wait and the tears I'm sobbing. This was exactly what I didn't know I needed for my Ella and Reed obsession. I can't even fathom that I just read this. Did I really just read this? Holy moly I'm on cloud 9 right now. I can't wait until I don't have responsibilities so I can just read them all at once non stop and sob like a stinking baby. The most beautiful thing about this series is that I fall in love with Ella and Reed more and more each book but I also fall in love with Easton, and Sebastian, and Sawyer more and more each book. "These Royals will ruin you" UH YEAH. Them boys have me whipped. I pray to some form of God there is more to this family. And I'm crossing my fingers about some Wade lovin. What's better than 10/10, 5 stars, two thumbs up? Because that's what this book deserves. Thank you so much to these beautiful authors for giving me the conclusion I didn't know I wanted. Genius!
4.0 van 5 sterren A different tone than the first 2 books, but still really liked 3 februari 2017

Spoiler Alert: Do not read this review if you have not read the previous book in the Royals series, Broken Prince.

So the wicked bitch of Bayview, NC is dead. And Reed Royal has been arrested for Brooke's murder. Oh, and Ella's biological father, Steve O'Halloran, is back from the dead. Yeah - that actually happened.

Ella and Reed's world is crashing down around them. Reed is being accused of a crime he didn't commit and Ella is forced to interact with a man she's not sure she likes. Steve is nothing like how Callum described him and his aggressive push to be super-dad (including a ton of insane rules) rubs Ella the wrong way.

With everyone whispering about Reed being a potential murder behind their backs and Steve working to keep them apart, will Reed and Ella be able to figure out who is framing Reed? Or will Reed accept defeat under the mounting stack of damning evidence against him? Will Ella be able to save Reed before he makes the biggest mistake of his life? Was Brooke really the intended target? Or was it a case of mistaken identity?

One thing is for certain: there's a killer out there that would do anything to keep his or her secrets and their crime from being revealed.

I enjoyed Twisted Palace, but not as much as I loved Paper Princess and Broken Prince. A great majority of Twisted Palace was spent on the murder, Reed's uncertain future, and Steve's unexplainable drive to keep Ella and Reed apart at all costs. While it added a greater depth to the story, the tone felt a lot different than in the first two books - so although I really liked the mystery and the story, I felt like the story slowed down at times. Like the reader and the characters were waiting for something to happen, for some resolution that too time to come.

I still loved all of the main characters but I have to admit I really hated Steve. I know that was kind of the point but I guess I was wishing he would be the cool guy that Callum kept talking about - not the kind of guy that made Callum look like a Father of the Year candidate. And I even felt sorry for Dinah! The sky must be falling!

Overall, I really did like Twisted Palace, especially when everything was revealed at the end and things settled down. Now I'm eager to read Easton's story. Who will be the girl that steals his heart? Somebody we already know? Or someone completely new?

5.0 van 5 sterren The best in the series! 31 december 2016

Finally the conclusion to the series that has caught me off guard and kept me glued to my Kindle for the past 24 hours. We finally get to see how Ella and Reed's story ends and what an ending it is!

After the ending of Broken Prince I was in complete shock and needed to know what happened ASAP. This book took us on even more twists and turns than the previous books and my head was spinning with everything we learned. My heart broke for everything that Reed and Ella had to go through. With the return of Steve I was happy at first that Ella would have her father in her life, but I quickly began to distrust him and his motives, he fell into the Dinah and Brooke category for me and he never really got out of it.

I hated how Ella finally found a place she could call home and was ripped from it. She had Callum, the twins, Easton and Reed, and Steve came and took it all away. He wanted to control her, and sure, that's what parents do, but I hated how he went about doing it. He didn't take the time to get to know her or who she was before he made decisions for her that could change her life forever. He didn't care that his godson was being convicted of murder, or that it was tearing his daughter apart, he was selfish and I despised his character for it. But enough about him. The way Ella handled everything going on with Reed? It made me love her character even more. She has grown so much in this series and is so strong that I admire this character so much. She goes to bat for those she loves and the way she stood by the Royals and Reed is something that was admirable and showed how much she truly cared for each and every one of them. Something I never would have thought would have happened when they first met with so much animosity between them all.

This book had even more secrets and lies and I loved each and every second of it. We got all the sexiness and angst we've grown accustomed to with Reed and Ella, the banter and fun with Easton and Ella, the high school drama, the dark and twisty secrets, and everything in between. This series seriously has me hooked and I wasn't ready to say goodbye to Reed and Ella. I can only hope we get to see more of the family one day because the twins, Gideon, Easton, etc all in my opinion have stories to tell. This series quickly has jumped to one of my favorite series of all time and I can not recommend it enough. If you're looking to be sucked into a world of secrets and lies and angst, I highly recommend The Royals by Erin Watt!

Twisted Palace (The Royals #3) by Erin Watt
4 stars!!!

“We’re not running. We’re going to stay and fight.”

This has been an incredible reading week and I have had an incredible run of very different yet amazing reads in their own right. This series has been a guilty pleasure, I love my college romances, I love living vicariously through these teenagers as they live a life I never had and I have soaked up every word, every situation and every plot twist. While this has ultimately been Ella and Reed’s story the shenanigans going on at the Royal house has kept the pace of this series running at the rate of knots and it certainly doesn’t let up in Twisted Palace…hang on for the ride!

“Reed is loyal to his core. He’d die for his family. Hell, he might’ve even killed for it.”

The tag line for this series is “The Royals will ruin you” and that certainly continues in Twisted Palace. After the ending of Broken Prince, I was aghast, I mean how could they leave it there for starters and two how the hell was this one going to be explained. It is all doom and gloom for Reed in this book, even though he is seemingly innocent the evidence against him is condemning, how could an innocent man look so guilty…unless he wasn’t? I had so many theories, but no matter where my thought processes went, I was always wrong. The situation is untenable, but Reed, being Reed stepped up to the plate, to make the ultimate sacrifice when all Ella wanted to do was run.

“Reed’s not the destroyer. He’s never destroyed anything in his life; he’s always been the protector, even at this moment when he battles his own lust for control.”

Ella was a “runner” first and foremost, but with Reed behind her she couldn’t get very far. As much as she wanted to run, Reed pulled her back. This was the biggest test of their relationship and watching them battle through as a team was beautiful to witness. This makes them stronger, but not only them, the Royal’s as a whole pull together. A family decimated through grief finally pull together to protect and support one of their own. Ella may be their “princess” but one thing she has done is brought these men together, made them stronger, made them a family once again. Ella now has a family; the Royals are fiercely protective of their women but it seems the rest of the world wants to tear them apart. Is this a crisis that even the Royal reputation and money can’t worm their way out of?

“I know that your first instinct is to fight. It’s an admirable trait. But this is the one time you need to surrender.”

I have adored this series from the very first page of Paper Princess to the last of Twisted Palace, but I feel that this is just the tip of the iceberg. This may be the conclusion to Ella and Reed’s story but there are a lot of Royal men that need their story to be told. Gideon has been the biggest enigma, I am desperate to know what makes this elder Royal tick, how he got himself into the situations he did and now, after the aftermath, what is to become of him. The twins story is certainly going to be fun, these two are inseparable in life and love…a YA ménage? Easton, the joker, yet so troubled, he needs to be calmed down a little, maybe love is just what he needs. Now I am showing my age though, I am desperate for the silver fox’s story, Callum. This man, my heart has broken for him on so many occasions and now the truth has finally been revealed maybe he can move on, he deserves it.

“Come now. Bring Callum. Bring everyone. But especially Callum.”

Erin Watt, the writing powerhouse, have brought us an unforgettable family, a family that I am not willing to leave, I only hope that the success of this trilogy spurs them on to continue my Royal romance. I love it when you get so invested, it is testament to the skill of the authors and this family have wheedled their way into my heart and head. While Twisted Palace was all sorts of crazy, it was a gripping intense crazy, an unpredictable crazy and I want more. Give me more crazy!!!!

Twisted Palace is the long awaited conclusion of Erin Watt's The Royals. It picks up where book two left off, so it should definitely be read in order as a series.

In an attempt to keep this spoiler free, I am just going to say this book continued to be filled with suspense and combustible chemistry. Just when you think you know what will happen next, the plot is thrown into an entirely different direction. I love that there seemes to be some dangling potential storylines for possible books in the future with these memorable characters. I can't wait to read more from this amazing author (well authors...since this is the brilliant work of Elle and Jen).
