Productbeschrijving

TED talks have redefined the elements of a successful presentation and become the gold standard for public speaking around the world. And yet the techniques that top TED speakers use are the same ones that will make any presentation more dynamic, fire up any team, and give anyone the confidence to overcome their fear of public speaking.

Communications coach and bestselling author of The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs, Carmine Gallo has broken down the top TED talks and interviewed the most popular TED presenters to uncover the nine secrets of all successful TED presentations. From 'Unleashing the Master Within' and 'Delivering Jaw Dropping Moments' to 'Sticking to the 18-minute Rule' Gallo provides a step-by-step method that makes it possible for anyone to create, design, and deliver a TED-style presentation that is engaging, persuasive, and memorable.

Ideas are the true currency of the 21st century, and Talk Like TED gives readers a way to create presentations around the ideas that matter most to them, presentations that will energize their audiences to spread those ideas, launch new initiatives, and reach their highest goals.

5.0 van 5 sterren Helped Tremendously with Veterans Day Presentation -- Expect to Revisit Often 2 januari 2016
door Matt Deaton, Ph.D. - Gepubliceerd op Amazon.com

Gallo's in-depth analysis of the best speakers of our time is a superb resource sure to up your public speaking game. Last fall I drew heavily on it while preparing and delivering a Veterans Day presentation for two local middle schools. "Tell stories" and "use emotionally potent examples" served as my guiding principles, and they made everything easier to remember, more fun to deliver, and more pleasurable for the audience to receive.

This isn't a basic how-to for novice speakers, but it doesn't claim to be. For comprehensive coverage of the nuts and bolts basics, consider Carnegie's timeless classic, The Art of Public Speaking (its copyright is expired, and so can be found online for free), or for more concise coverage of the same, consider my The Best Public Speaking Book: How to Conquer Nervousness, Polish Your Authentic Stage Self, Develop & Deliver Dynamite Presentations. (When I revise The Best Public Speaking Book, Gallo will be cited for sure!)

Thanks for the excellent book, Gallo! You and Brian Tracy have helped take my public speaking game to the next level, and Talk Like Ted is a resource I anticipate revisiting many times.

2.0 van 5 sterren it was mostly re-hash of some of the TED speakers (I love the speakers) 11 februari 2015
door Art Mawkin - Gepubliceerd op Amazon.com

For me, it was mostly re-hash of some of the TED speakers (I love the speakers). Most of the 'examples' had special circumstances and accomplishments - that 'normal' people do not have. Though well-written, the theory based on individual examples just doesn't transfer very well to a bag of useful ideas for the average person. But if you invented something great, saved someone, took vaccine to remote locations - then you'll find some ideas that you could have found in TED talks without reading the book. If you've never seen a number of TED talks - it is a good description of the types of remarkable people and speeches there. Perhaps I've watched more TED talks than most people, for that reason it seemed more of a description of what is there at TED - than a 'how to' approach.. but read some of it and judge for yourself. It is really more of a 'what' book than a 'how' book. Being enthusiastic and not diluting the best parts of your speech are not exactly 'secrets' and basic toastmaster level. Read the 'look inside' or a sample and see if it's for you. It just might be! Read other reviews and get others opinions, then make your own decision.

5.0 van 5 sterren I can highly recommend this book 29 september 2016

Talk This Way!
Using a host of TED Talks, Carmine Gallo offers a powerful argument for how to deliver public presentations. Having taught speech for over 20 years and being a former speechwriter, I can highly recommend this book. Gallo suggests speaking with emotion and passion; telling compelling, relevant stories; having a conversation with the audience; teaching something new; inserting show-stopping elements; using situational and personal humor; and, delivering information in short 10-minute segments punctuated by soft breaks—stories, pictures, videos.

3.0 van 5 sterren Doesn't recognize its own limitations 16 mei 2016

This book is a solid effort with decent content, but Gallo doesn't consider any objections to his point of view. He seems to believe ALL business leaders should give ALL presentations in the TED style. That's absurd. It depends on the setting. In some settings, if the speaker put as much emphasis on emotional impact as Gallo recommends, the audience would revolt. And if someone's Powerpoint slides consisted only of images and single short phrases - the style Gallo urges - what about where conference goers expect the slides to provide a quick, handy summary of the content of the talk?

As I said, it's a decent book, but Chris Anderson's on the same topic is far better.

5.0 van 5 sterren Every Minister Should Read This 7 september 2016

Most preachers still go over forty-five minutes when they preach. They are no longer connected with the people of today. People are not able to sit there and stay focused for that long. This is especially true if we are ministering to young people. Jesus was able to get his sermons down to just a few verses. He was able to communicate in short amounts of time. We should be able to preach in under thirty minutes. Learn how to boil it down to tweet able moments.
This was an excellent book. I recommended it five times before I got to the halfway point. Very intriguing take on communication. The book also gives you an idea of what Ted talks you must see.
