The last thing Jane Cavanaugh would ever expect is to be married—she is an invalid, after all—but that doesn’t mean she can’t help with her sister’s husband hunt! (Even if it is with a wee bit of reluctance.)

The last thing Gareth, Lord Worthe would ever want to do is to fall in love with his closest friend’s younger sister.

But fate just might have something else in store for these two…

Please note, this novella is approximately 23,500 words.

5.0 van 5 sterren Unexpected True Love 24 maart 2015

This novella will make you believe in love at first sight! When Gareth, Lord Worthe, agreed to host his best friend Michael's sister before her first season in London, he had no idea that there would actually be two sisters descending on his homework all of their noise, dresses and talk of finding husbands. Gareth is expecting the lovely Charlotte, but is in no way prepared for the stunning Jane. While Gareth only sees a beautiful, witty young woman, everyone else around Jane sees the invalid that she became after an accident when she was young. While she is confined all day to a wheel chair because her back injury makes it too painful for her to be up on her legs for any length of time, Jane is quick-witted and mischievous, bringing out the best in the usually taciturn Gareth. When Gareth proposes, he has a much harder time convincing Michael that Jane is worthy of being loved, rather than pitied, than he does convincing Jane that he is the man for her. I loved that this story showed that true love knows no obstacles and how real love can bring out the absolute best in people. The characters are shown with all of their human flaws and insecurities and you will love them even more for it!
5.0 van 5 sterren Hero sees the heroine for her true value. 25 januari 2016

This was such as sweet book.

The hero's best friend has a sister that is disabled. She was involved in an accident that left her paralyzed from the waist down. It was beautifully written on how the author described the hardships that a person with such a disability had to go through during that time period. Everyone treats her as if she was a child and in need of protection. The hero is instantly attracted to her and sees her worth from the start. He tries to keep away because she is his best friend's sister and he is a beta male that is protective but not very forceful. However, things come to head at an event and the hero steps up to protect and defend the heroine. So when it matters he was there for her. He is sweet how he finds her very attractive and looks forward to their wedding night. The love scene was sweet. He was perfect for the heroine. She blossomed under his love. It was short love story. I am sure she will have to deal with many stereo types moving forward but the hero appeared devoted to being by her side through it all. He doesn't shy away from her disability and is open about how she can't hide away from it. He challenges misconception by her family and in turn helps the heroine grow in confidence as well. I would love to see a follow up to this book, but I still enjoyed it tremendously. Great read.
5.0 van 5 sterren Beautiful love story 16 juni 2017

This was truly a beautiful story of love and how Gareth saw something in Jane that no one else apparently had seen. Although she was loved by her family, she was overprotected. Most of society saw her as "a piece of furniture" so her brother Michael wanted to protect her from the unkind comments and treatment by the ton. However, Gareth saw her as an amazing woman...a woman who was vibrant, bright, witty and beautiful. Gareth fell in love with her in two days and wanted to marry her, much to her brother's surprise. I wish the author would develop this story more into a full-fledged novel giving more insight into the difficulties Jane went through as an invalid two hundred years ago, even though it never affected her as a person. Reading "Mistletoe & Michaelmas" you discover that Gareth and Jane have two children which is so wonderful and answers questions left unanswered in "The Perfect Lady Worthe." I have already read this novella twice because it was such an enjoyable and worthwhile read.

4.0 van 5 sterren Just a little to Much Sexual Info for Me 18 juni 2015

You know when you go to a PG13 movie and 10 minutes into the show you leave...that was this book for me but she had me with this wonderful story line. When I select Amazon ebooks, I select "Christian Romance or Christian Historial". This never should of been listed as a choice for these categories. Now.... I enjoyed the story line, I enjoyed how she wrote, and she built the characters wonderfully, BUT that flash of sex just before the commercial comes on kept happening over and over. The shame of this was it was not needed!!! Move it to another category and take me off the new ebooks that are now being suggested for me to read because of this one. I have to say in Rose Gordan's defiance it could have been much worst!!!

3.0 van 5 sterren No romance in a romance book. 17 april 2015

Good plot. Characters well developed. Not enough story. Not enough epilogue. No romance in a romance story.

Wouldn't you think he would want to show her off around London? The opera, a play, a ride in the park, or even a ball since he would be there with her and they could play cards, plus I didn't feel the love in this story at all. Maybe because it was so fast.

The possibilities were there for a fantastic story of great love, but Ms.. Gordon dropped the ball and it makes me sad. Sad because she had a great plot idea, unique at least in all the books I've read in the genre and one I think is needed.
