Finally she reaches a very ordinary high school in the city, and things go down-hill rapidly as usual. Until she meets a boy in the class. He's not popular and has a reputation for being weird, but not in a particularly bad way. He just marches to the tune of his own drummer in terms of dress and behavior. He is unusually stable, emotionally, and slights and insults from Ojo have absolutely no effect on him. He is capable of becoming her friend, despite her personality.
A lot of shoenen rom-coms have harem setups, but not so here. Its is a pure monogamous relationship where intimacy is approached only very slowly. This makes for a lot of good comedy as their are plenty of opportunities for the protagionists to get embarrassed when others make assumptions that they are boyfriend/girlfriend.
It is a 4-koma manga which is one of my favorite formats. The story progresses rapidly and there are some really funny characters, like Ojo's butler. It is a sweet story of innocent love that grows gradually as they spend time together. They both wind up being a good influcence (or maybe, a normalizing influence) on their partner's more outlandish behavior, and the characters grow.
Being four Koma, its a gag manga and I really enjoy the humor. The translators left a lot of Japanese anacronisms in there, which I enjoy trying to figure out. One or two of the jokes I don't get at all due to cultural mismatch. For me this adds to the fun.
The artwork is in the now-common shonen (boy manga) moe style. It is cute but had has an attractive loose style, but I find I am more attracted to the story. This book includes volumes 1 and 2 of the original Japanese series, and I know at least one more two-volume sequel is planned. I've already pre-ordered it on Amazon and I'm really looking forward to it.
I enjoy a light, simple and funny story from time to time and this is one of those. I liked the personality of both main characters and how they interact. I look forward to reading more about them.
