If you like single dad stories, as I do, then this is a perfect selection. This story is about Logan and Irene. Logan is a park ranger, and he has a secret crush on Irene. After he caught his wife cheating with his own brother and she’s pregnant,to,boot, Logan moves to town to start over. Logan moved to a house on the same street as Irene. A baby is left at her doorstep which was meant for him. Logan talked to a a lawyer he decided to get help to keep his niece. He ran into her at the store and asked her for her help.Irene was already in love with Lily but agreed to help him. Then his brother kidnapped the girls and Logan realized quickly how much both girls meant to him. Lots of drama, very fast paced, loved it.

Growing up as the only sister in the Callaghan band of brothers—Boone, Brody, Dylan, Levi and her twin Clay—Irene learned early that she needed to establish herself as a girl, and later a woman, of firm resolve and grit. She knew how to wrangle with her brothers and not be intimidated by their size and bluster.

At an early age she had been forced to learned how to manage challenging individuals—she had watched her mom struggle to feed her brood while their deadbeat dad was always looking for an angle or a short cut or simply his children’s hard-earned allowance, to support his own gambling habit at his family’s expense. And when at 16, Irene inherited the role of “mom” for her younger siblings—Dylan and Clay—after the death of their mother, Irene found solace in her role of caring for her brothers, especially through the preparation of delicious meals on a limited budget.

Now, with all the siblings grown into responsible adults—the youngest, Levi, a senior in college—Irene is proud of what her brood of siblings has accomplished. Led by the eldest brother, Boone, whose status as the “legal” adult for the parentless brood, and whose ingenuity to refurbish campers, providing them on a rental arrangement to visitors of the nearby Grey Peak National Park, had provided the siblings with the adult supervision and income that allowed them to stay together and not become a part of the foster care system.

So, the parentless brood had stayed intact, with the “family business” providing financial stability and even employment for the siblings who chose to participate. And, loving interacting with people from diverse life experiences and using her communication skills honed as the peacemaker of the Callaghan family, Irene was a natural as the public contact representative for Callaghan Campers.

So, when Chief Ranger at Grey Peak National Park located near Liberty, Utah, Logan Rogers with dark, thoughtful eyes and dark hair, discovers that the campers that find their way into Grey Peak are often rentals of the local Callaghan Campers, he has occasion to have contact with several of the male Callaghan’s. But, when he encounters the company’s PR director—the only female in the family, Irene—Logan reveals his imaginative nature creating “concerns” encountered by the park staff who have “encounters” with the customers of Callaghan Campers. And, Irene, having developed the ability to hold her own against her cantankerous brothers, was a match for the tall, handsome ex-marine and now, chief ranger when he “called” on the Callaghan’s with complaints about the activities of the individuals who had rented their campers.

Like the Callaghan brood, Logan’s childhood was not easy. He and his older brother Nathan were thrown into the foster care in their teens, and while the care they were given was not harmful and Logan managed, older brother Nathan had mental and emotional issues that constantly placed the brothers at risk. Nathan displayed harmful tendencies of aggression and addiction, especially when coupled with the inability to restrain his impulsive tendencies. Logan recognized that he needed to separate himself from his destructive brother, especially when Nathan’s new interest was to initiate his younger brother into his chaotic world of larceny and drugs.

So, younger brother, Logan, at 16 had had himself emancipated, and at 17, enlisted in the Marines. And, the years of service were good to him. Even the shoulder injury he received during his one of his early tours had progressed his life—he met Delilah Michaelson, one of the nurses who managed his care and had managed to touch his heart, becoming his wife and offering him a very different life trajectory.

Their plan had been to start a family after his 3rd tour was complete. And, as planned he returned to his wife following his separation from service, but was stunned to discover that his planned reunion had been destroyed. Upon arriving in Minnesota, where his wife’s family lived, he discovered that his brother Nathan had “visited” Logan’s wife during the younger brother’s final deployment, and now his wife and his brother were expecting a child.

Now, months later, Logan’s life plan has been adjusted. He has separated from Delilah and has relocated his life to Utah. And living alone in his cabin located just outside of Liberty, Utah, he has begun to act on one of his unspoken dreams—writing. One of the few constants in his disrupted young life had been his love of reading. It had seen him though his years of foster care; it had seen him through deployments to foreign places filled with war, and now with his cabin filled with stacks of books, his love of reading was helping him rebuild his life as a man whose dreams of home and family have been crushed. But one dream lives—Logan is a secret writer and has reached out to a publisher about submitting his manuscript of novel that is built out of some of his experiences and knowledge of covert operations. And, a new dream is beginning to take form, and it involves the spirited and sassy Callaghan sister, Irene, with her beautiful green eyes, long, wavy dark hair and her delightful curves.

KC Crowne is a writer for the individual seeking a reading experience that engages the heart and head with jolts of adrenalin produced by the twists and turns of the plot. She delivers engaging characters experiencing life’s challenges. A tenderly passionate romance, the story is structured with a strong and realistic storyline woven with emotional tension. And, most powerfully expressed are themes of love, family, sacrifice and the ability of the heart to love without bounds.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review ARCS, but I enjoyed the reading experience so much that I bought a copy for my "read-again" titles.

Sexy, Smoking Hot Mountain Man Romance!

This book is a wonderful, heartwarming romance that will melt the stoniest of hearts and takes place in the serene mountain side town of Sunville, a quaint small town where everyone knows your name and all of your business; gossip spreads like wildfire here. It begins with Logan Rogers, a forest ranger at Grey Peak National Park, making his weekly visit to talk to the owners and operators of Callaghan Campers, the Callaghans. It never fails that he has to pay them a visit to talk to them about their camper rental process because the people they were renting to weren't following park rules; doing everything from feeding the wild animals, littering and defacing a tree by carving their initials into it. The Callaghan men were, as usual, spoiling for an argument and started yelling about how they told the campers the rules and they couldn't control what they did once they entered the park. The yelling brought in the only sister of the gang, Irene, who is soft spoken and a visual angel. Everytime she's around, Logan's heart races and he loses all ability to form coherent sentences and thoughts. The feeling is mutual for Irene, the devilishly handsome Logan occupied her thoughts day and night. She was just thinking about him when she's brought out of her revelry by someone calling her name. It's Paul, the local butcher at the corner grocery store she's currently in, he's asking if she'd like him to reserve a turkey for her for Thanksgiving that was quickly approaching. He also brought to her attention to the Annual Sunville Season's Greetings Carnival cookout contest with the grand prize of $10,000. As she exits the store she hears some ladies gossiping and ogling Logan Rogers, park ranger extraordinaire. They were saying things about him such as they heard he was once a Marine, an ex-con, and running away from Las Vegas loan sharks. He was laying low here. Irene couldn't blame them since Logan dropped into Sunville about a year and a half ago and didn't really spend any amount of time in the town or socializing with any of the townsfolk. He was a mystery to them all. She gets to her car and winces at the calamity that is her trunk, it's loaded down with groceries and she was attempting to squash more into it. Unsuccessfully I might add. When a deep voice behind her makes her jump. She turns around and finds Logan standing behind her, he takes the groceries from her hands and finagles the groceries into her trunk so that everything fits perfectly. He asks her for a thanks and she refuses, instead telling him to move out of her way so she can back out of her parking space. She pulls out of her space and swears she sees him smiling at her in her rear view mirror. That's impossible because Logan never smiles, he's too straight laced and serious all the time. She gets home, saves all her groceries, starts making dinner for her self when she hears loud bangs on the side of her cabin. She peers through the peephole and sees nothing so she decides to open the door. There, sitting on her doorstep is a baby swaddled in blankets but not necessarily enough for the cold weather they were currently having. She scooped up the crying baby and glances around to see no a trace of who could have left this little one at her door. She notices a piece of paper clipped to the baby's onesie and it addressed to none other then Logan Rogers. She takes the baby to the hospital, informs the police about what's going on and then rushes to Logan's house to fill him in as well, giving him the note that was attached to the baby. Logan reads the note and his blood boils with rage. Apparently, the baby is his niece, Lily, and was abandoned by her father, his older brother, Nate. Plus a little dig thrown in about how Delilah, her deceased mother and his ex-wife, would want him to look after and take care of her. He refuses to go with Irene to the hospital and tells her the police could handle it while he closes his door in her face. She bangs on and screams at him through the door until she gets the hint, finally leaving him to his thoughts. Irene goes back to the hospital to see what's going to happen to Lily and while there the social worker approaches her to ask her some questions concerning her finding Lily. She learns from the social worker that Logan did come to the hospital and was currently talking to the police. She goes to find him and hears snippets of the conversation with the police officer about how the mother is deceased and he isn't on speaking terms with Lily's father. Lily starts wailing in Logan's arms and Irene rushes forward to take the baby to calm her down. Logan asks if she could carry her to his car, as he has a lot of baby supplies to carry. She agrees and once at the car she secures Lily into the car seat. She scribbles her phone number on a scrap of paper and gives it to Logan with instructions to call her if he needs anything because she's only a mile from his house. This is where I'll leave you and you'll have to get the book to discover what happens next. Let's just say that the chemistry between Irene and Logan reaches a very satisfying boiling point! As probably predictable, Logan will indeed have to contact Irene when Lily goes on a non-stop crying jag. There's also a court held custody battle for Lily, a father who didn't really disappear, a possible marriage of convenience with real feelings involved and pasts that make it extremely difficult to move on. I mean what more could you put in an already wonderful, heartwarming original storyline with strong, realistic that you can't help but root for to get their happily ever afters. I can wholeheartedly recommend this book on those merits alone and you definitely regret getting this book!

Loved this story!!! Logon has retreated into himself after his ex wife got pregnant by his own brother on his last tour of duty. He’s a park ranger now. He likes to visit Callaghans Camper’s to harass a bit on what their customers do to the park, like littering or carving in trees. But what he really visits for is to see the Callaghan brothers sister Irene. She’s sweet, and sassy and full of sunshine and life. And she tugs on his heart every time he sees her. Through a mix up of house addresses, one snowy cold night, a baby girl is left on Irene’s door step. She quickly realizes this baby belongs to Logan. In The process of helping him gain custody of his daughter, she falls in love with Logan. However, everything isn’t that easy. There’s a danger out there for her, Logan and his little girl in the form Of his angry brother. Irene is determined to stand by his side and help him fight for his daughter. A quick marriage helps seal the deal but they’re not out of danger yet. Plus Irene has one more surprise for Logan. An exciting story that’s sweet and romantic. I couldn’t put it down! Another mountain man winner!

I’d bet Irene never thought she would be caught up in the dangerous situations she found herself in when she and Logan got together. And he didn’t help the situation antagonizing her protective brothers!! I couldn’t stop reading even when I should have been going to bed because I HAD to find out what happened next. Plenty of action and suspense to keep those pages turning. Beware of the potty and colorful language!!
