Used numerous KMC chains before and they've been fine - this one is no different. Pleased to see it comes with the resusable link which will help with removal for cleaning and refitting. There are numerous reviews here which state that a new chain slips. This will be the case if your cassette and / or chainrings are worn. If you're experiencing slippage after replacing the chain this is almost certainly the reason. Plenty of tutorials online on how to check for this.

Good quality chain

Bought the chain to replace my original one on my Trek FX 7.4 hybrid bike.

Original chain was also a KMC X9 and did more than 5,400km without any issues. However, chain was slightly stretched (0.5%) so time to replace. Very happy with how long that chain lasted.

Replacement chain looks exactly the same, despite various reviews mentioning a lower quality product.

As for people complaining about gears skipping after changing the chain, that's quite normal and even expected! If you wait too long to replace a chain and it has stretched too much, then all the components will be damaged too from the stretching. Replacing just the chain will make things worse, not better.
Either replace the chain before it gets too stretched, or replace all the drive train components at the same time (sprockets/gears, chainring).

Didnt work as it should

DO NOT BUY.
As others have said the chain jumps gears and rides over the cogs.
I had an accident because of this when I set off riding from home and caused £260 worth of damage to my own car!!!
After examination by comparing the purchased KMC x9 chain with the very same KMC x9 chain originally on my bike, the one purchased the links where slightly longer and other slight differences noted, which when magnified by the length of the chain made it significantly different to the original of exact make and type.
Makes one wonder.

Missing, missing link! But nice chain

It came with only one half of the joining link. Had to purchase a new set of links as bike is needed and I cannot waste the time messing around with sending the chain back to amazon.
Having purchased a pair of KMC missing links the chain was fitted.
And, of course immediately began slipping on the cassette!
So, I replaced the cassette and viola - works perfectly.
As others have said if the new chain slips it's because your old worn out chain has remodeled your cassette to work with it. To be honest you should replace in pairs anyway especially if you are changing the chain due to slipping etc.!
This GOLD KMC X9 looks great and it's only gold due to gold being the colour of TiN (Titanium Nitride)
I have used TiN coated tooling for high wear and high abrasion applications.
In these industrial situations the TiN coated tools have out lived standard Titanium tooling by 100s of time (seriously!!) So seeing this TiN coated bike chain - I had to buy it.
Early days but I have high expectations!

Chain slip, not worth the risk sadly

I normally run a KMC z9 chain on my Shimano sora set up, research said this is suitable. Got a new crank set and front chain ring. Put new chain on, sized it up all good.... but no, chain on the smallest 5 rings on the cassette just kept slipping, as u get down to the smallest ring it was constantly slipping.
I sized it agin smaller just incase, but no now smallest 4 and occasionally 5. When back and re read the reviews and a number of ppl have said the same, it’s either perfect for you or you have this issue.
Waste of £15.99 really, had to throw my old chain back on that worth perfectly, even tho was worn.

Nickel plating is poor

Used to buy Shimano chains until they became expensive. Then tried SRAM but had too many side plates breaking. Decided to give KMC a try specifically because this model is nickel plated which should mean that it will not rust if it gets wet, but very disappointed to see flash corrosion the first time it became very humid, so the nickel plating is not up to much. Gear shifts are fine the next test will be how long it lasts

I read a couple of other reviews saying that the chain skipped and whatnot - but bought it anyway, as the greater majority of reviews were positive.

The bad reviews were spot on - the chain skips and dances and is quite unusable, no matter what adjustments you attempt to do with your derailleur, cassette (I changed mine. Twice.) or any other tweaking of cables and whatnot.

Waste of money - do not buy.

Mine is gold and look fantastic. Certainly brightens up the drivetrain.
Easy to fit
Came in a nice case that.
i have used to store my old chain should i need it. So bit of a double win there.

Ordered this chain which arrived very quickly. When ordering make sure it is sold by and delivered by Amazon so you know you are getting a genuine product which this definitely is. I’m really happy with it.
Make sure when fitting it you trim your new chain to match the length of your old chain.

Easy to install using the quicklink. I put this on a 2 x 9 speed road bike and there was exactly the right number of links so be cautious if your bike takes a longer than average chain
