Home Tears is seriously good. Tijan's talent is almost irritating. She nailed this one! -- Kylie Scott NYT Bestselling author

Dani’s survived a lot of sh*t storms.
Her mother died. Her two sisters loathed her. One aunt hated her. The other was strangely distant, but the worst storm—being dumped by her childhood best friend/high school boyfriend/first love for her younger sister.
There went the one person who was hers and with that, the main reason she stuck around. So, she left for ten years. But now she’s back, and nothing’s the same.
With help from Jonah Bannon, a reformed—kind of—bad boy she remembers from high school, Dani uncovers family secrets that have spanned generations. And along with those, she’s about to face the biggest sh*t storm of her life.
Only this time, she may not survive.

1.0 van 5 sterren Too much 7 december 2016

This story was extremely confusing and all over the place. I've read Tijan's other books and they have been great. Not so much with this one. I personally did not enjoy it.

1.0 van 5 sterren I was in a constant state of confusion for the random dialogue and flooding metaphors. 18 december 2016

Home Tears was about Dani searching for answers hoping to find herself. Dani left her small town hoping to find herself away from the small town secrets. Ten years passed and yet Dani still faced the same problems before she left.

Dani's reunion caused quite an uproar with some characters. Tijan introduced an array of characters that was challenging to keep track of. Not to mention all the gossip that followed with each introduction. Tijan got carried away with the idle chit chat between characters.

“I said a little about some stuff and nothing about a lot.” This quote about summed up the entire story. I felt like I learned nothing while the characters rambled on about nonsense.
I am so lost and confused with these random conversations with old friends reuniting with one another and reminiscing over the past. Then the flooding. The metaphors for flooding. WTF.

Dani was a hot mess. Dani found love with Jake but then ran away from it. Then she found love with Boone and once again got spooked and ran away. Dani suffered a fear of getting too close to people.
Once the secrets revealed themselves it seemed history continued to repeat itself. An endless loop of lies and secrets of men who fathered children yet never claimed them.
"Dani left feeling more confused than when she arrived." This quote explained exactly how I felt at the moment. Reading this story was confusing. It was anti-climatic even after discovering the secrets.
Famous last words, "do you want to talk about it?" Answer, "no". Or I'll tell you more later now is not the time. I grew bored and tired of this dialogue. Nothing good happened while waiting to unravel secrets.

Jonah sparked the fight back into Dani. Dani wanted to find herself away from all the family turmoil.
I could not identify with Dani. In fact, I struggled to understand what was so appealing about Dani that caused three guys to fall in love with her. It took leaving town and returning for Dani to recognize that the secrets and mistakes of the past were what caused her family to drift apart.

2.0 van 5 sterren Lack of connections. 10 december 2016

I usually love Tijan books so I quickly bought it for when i discovered it. Sadly, this is not up to par with her usual standards. I enjoyed the main character by herself. Her love connection with Jonah was nonexistent. It seemed all the characters were just there to move Dani along rather than to had some extra entertainment to the book. She felt her sisters were terrible the whole book then she changes her mind because other people tell her she's wrong. Dani gets screwed over by her family and runs away but is to blame for it all. Jake being in love with every sister was just creepy. Tijan kept saying he was a good guy but he never acted like it. This book was just filled with bad characters that made the whole thing suck.

3.0 van 5 sterren Talk about family drama and secrets! 2 januari 2017

Dani left town after her younger sister, Erica, steals her boyfriend. Ten years have passed by and she's greeted with a lukewarm reception. But not for the reason you think! While Dani was away, Erica passes away from cancer and now her other sister, Julia, is with her ex boyfriend. Keeping it in the family I see Jake. I had a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that he was with three sisters!! Talking about he loves them all in different ways. This was too deep for me! Every time I turned around something was happening. Apparently we have a dead grandmother who isn't dead who's been in a mental institution the whole time. An evil Aunt and a mystery father. I'm glad Dani got the answers she needed about her father and some closure with her sisters. Erica left her letter which was deep. I would have liked more character buildup with Dani and Jonah. I didn't feel their connection and the ending was a little flat. It would have been nice to have an update on the rest of the characters.

Too fast past and disjointed. Characters were adults but it felt high school(ish). Love this author's other books but just not this one.
