Haidji's first collection of short stories, Harables - Short Stories 1, brings together eighteen of Haidji’s short stories. Each story is prefaced by a quote from the story, such as: “To be shaped for life is never easy…”; “Life seemed to be just a letter, or a few words, in the metaphor of the Earth’s biography”; “All lines are drawings!"; “For the Earth to survive, for the human race to survive, we need to overcome our own survivor instinct”. Readers will have their own favorites among these amusing, delightful and thought-provoking tales. Everyone will appreciate Haidji’s unique eye for detail and imagery and enjoy her sometimes unexpected conclusions.

Author, Haidji, writes with a subtle and artistic touch. These short stories are elegantly written, skillfully drawn, almost poetic and yet thought-provoking. Harables: Short Stories 1 is a collection of tales that communicates wisdom and demands reflection. I found myself absorbing the messages imparted rather than just reading for the sake of reading. While I enjoyed reading all of the stories, if I had to pick a favorite it would be ‘The Invisible Girl – a Christmas Tale.’ Not sure why, but it seemed to stay with me more so than the others.

This book will take you on an almost mystical journey that will stay with you long after you have turned the last page. A book which has been beautifully written and is ultimately a book you simply can’t put down. There’s an otherworldly and stylish feel to this work. There’s no doubt that this author is uniquely talented and I’ll be looking forward to reading more from her in the future.

If you haven’t read this author before, you don’t know what you’re missing out on. This work is fresh, unique and imaginative. These short stories would come highly recommended from me. Five stars.

Haidji is a writer with a universal brand of warmth. The fluidity of her writing conquers us with a unique style, which portrays day-to-day experiences with a very human and insightful point of view. Harables is a consistent compilation of tales born of this unique way to give voice to dreams, desires, impulses and questions. Her ideas are lights around us when we read them and after, gifts of an author or a priestess able to bring magical elements to life. She hears a call that impels her talented writing for journeys often intriguing, as a reflection of her own enigmatic images. Discovering "Harables" is like recognizing souls so rich among us that we should always be listening to the goddesses who can turn their art into words. Haidji is a beautiful silhouette progressively opening herself like a flower in each new story...

5.0 van 5 sterren A Shimmering Diamond Set of Stories! 6 maart 2015

I absolutely adored these short stories! Each story is unique in of itself and contains characters that you fall in love with and enjoy with each turning page. My favorite short story by far in this collection is "The Crystal Girl." Dreams and Goals are like shimmering crystals and diamonds in the sand. The metaphor of the Clare's dress being a "borrowed dream" from a friend is a great one. It's diverse and I read through it twice to understand all of the meanings to everything. I learned from it that One must never forget our dreams or how precious they all are. They are as precious as a shimmering diamond or crystal.

All the stories range from children going to a new school to the impact of a car accident. I recommend this set of tales for anyone. Anyone of any age can read these and enjoy them.

5.0 van 5 sterren Perfect book to gift someone 22 oktober 2016

Haidji's books are my passport to paradise!

Another name of Joy = = = Haidji's Books.

You Must Read Her!

Harables is the collection of short, cute and thought provoking stories that YOU HAVE TO READ. READ. READ.
No matter how much appraisal I will give to Harables, it will be less.

I couldn't stop smiling the moment I started reading Harables.

Short story 'Srugar', being my favorite, will have its impact on me for a lifetime!

Spinning, Dancing and Singing 'Srugar' on top of my lungs, is making me feel liberated.

If I'm asked to always hold one book that will make me beautiful, happy and content - It would be Haidji's work.

Her writing style is making me go all gaga about her work!

Harables is a kind of book you read and re-read again and again; feeling each time something special about it.

I bless the day I fell in love with reading. If not then I wouldn't have come across her books and would have missed out on a lot of things.

Haidji's books are perfect to gift someone.

Following quote makes me smile every time I see it :

4.0 van 5 sterren Somewhat challenging collection of stories about youth, innocence and dreams 25 augustus 2015
door Iona Main Stewart - Gepubliceerd op
I received this book free in return for a review.

Short stories are not my favourite form of literature, but I thought I would like to give this collection a try.
I assume that “Harables” means “Haidji's parables”, but of course I don't know.

The author writes simply, clearly and imaginatively about the world of sensitive, dreamy young people.

The stories are written in a unique and creative style.

One little girl says “srugar” instead of “sugar”, because she finds the word “srugar” beautiful and the word “sugar” boring. Her mother presses her to say the word “correctly”, but she refuses. She does things her own way.

These are not superficial stories, but require to be read closely and perhaps re-read in order to get the most out of them, to grasp what Haidji is trying to teach us.

“Hot chocolate” is about an orphan called Lisa. It was her birthday, and she was afraid her colleagues would not remember or did not know this. But they did remember, and Lisa learns that “Family is not overrated. Sometimes, you just need to find out who your real family is, who shares your dreams and reads your wishes”. “Trust is a basic element to survive in the world, and one of the fundamental ways to happiness.”

Some of the stories, like “The name of dreams”, I find quite challenging. Kelsey loved autumn and snow and heard the call of the magic White Mountain. Richard fulfilled other persons' dreams but forgot his own ones. We are told that “one day, because the Earth makes all its effort to put persons with common dreams together, they will meet each other.

The name for Kelsey's dreams was the “White Mountain”. Richard was looking for someone who shared the same dreams. But he feared that Kelsey perhaps was a dream thief.

In fact, most of the stories are somewhat challenging, and all have messages. “When something belongs to you, it comes back to you, even if you move forward, even if you give up or try to replace it. It comes back.”

“Sometimes life is just like it is:
A beautiful chaotic construction made by dreams, deceptions and small miracles.”

I would recommend this small collection of stories to those who are young at heart, dreamy and imaginative, or need to be more so, The stories are about dreams, ideals, perhaps illusions, and have an innocent and pure feel to them.
