"The Eye of Ra is a brilliant new esoteric thriller that captivates the reader from the start. Intelligent, well-informed and absorbing, it propels you on a dangerous quest to Akhenaten's Egypt. If you are a fan of Dan Brown or Umberto Eco, then strap yourself in for a wild ride through ancient lands, intrigue and Egyptian magic. I highly recommend it." - Andrew Gough, presenter of historical documentaries and Editor-in-Chief of the Heretic Magazine

"In The Eye of Ra, Jeanne D'Août cleverly uses fiction to bring alive ancient Egypt and its magic. A most entertaining and fun book to read!" - Robert Bauval, author of The Orion Mystery

"A real page-turner, great plot, fast moving and a fun read!" - Tim Wallace-Murphy, Writer, TV Personality and Lecturer

It all starts with a ring, inlaid with a seemingly insignificant black stone. Discovered on its own by the famous archaeologist Flinders Petrie, the stone had not been recognised for what it was, for up until the fall of Jerusalem in the 6th century BCE it had always been one of a pair. As a pair, these stones had been used for divination in Biblical times. Together they are known as the Urim and Thummim. Determined to find the highly valued, lost stone and bring the separated pair together once again, a powerful secret order sends a team of intrepid researchers back in time to the era of the Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaten, only to discover a much greater enigma.

Give yourself a day won't be able to put this book down for any chores. I am in mourning right now...I did not want it to end. I did not want to say goodbye to several of the characters. The book is filled with factual information woven into a story so compelling, so filled with drama that one learns without pain or effort. I have not only traveled to new countries but traveled back in time, with the sights sounds and smells all- pervasive. I think I need a time machine to re-enter this present time. Perhaps a walk to the ocean to meditate will be helpful?
To say that I have been encouraged in my spiritual quest is an understatement. The energy of the book, the personalities and passions of each character in the book continues to swirl around me.

5.0 van 5 sterren Connecting the Esoteric Dots 23 maart 2015

This author knows how to bring her wealth of inscrutable knowledge to today's reader in such a way that you'll be captivated by every single page. As a student of many things esoteric (Cathars, Knights Templar, Hermetic Teachings, Time Travel, Holy Grail, Ley Lines, Ancient Egypt) I found this book most intriguing and I enjoyed how the author "connected the dots" in ways that I would never have considered. Even though this is a fictitious novel, it is obvious that the author has done considerable research and knows her stuff! This book is well written even considering that English is NOT her native language.

History comes alive in a myriad of ways, each distinctive, yet artfully intertwined - the philosophical complexity of ancient Egypt, the beliefs of the Middle East, the mysteries of the south France. Compelling, yet personal and endearing, each thread of the story line moves you forward through an exciting world you've never before encountered.
4.0 van 5 sterren A Rich Tale of Suspense and Spirit 15 mei 2017
door Victor E. Smith - Gepubliceerd op
Imaginative use of well-researched history of ancient Egypt, a delightful jaunt through surprise European venues from Malta to the Channel Islands, creative application of current electronic technology to make time-travel seem feasible. Jeanne D'Aout does not disappoint in this intriguing tale of occult adventure that follows well on her previous novel White Lie.
The loss of a star in the rating is largely a matter of my personal taste in fiction, which is not quite as breathless, fast-moving and jammed with action and characters as The Eye of Ra. I also imagine that someone who had not read D'Aout's earlier work about Otto Rahn might miss some allusions in the current book. Otherwise, a great story that should appeal to broad array of fans: ancient and religious history, spirituality, time travel, and the occult.

Another very enjoyable read from Jeanne D'Aout. Coming from a different theological perspective, in one or two places I found it a bit of a challenge, but otherwise really great. Fascinating subject matter and I learnt quite a bit about Akenaten. Her research is impeccable, which always helps. I do hope she writes some more!
